Together with the infectious diseases research and imaging community, we aim to compile a list of resources to advance imaging under BSL3 (and BSL4). These resources will be offered to the research community while simultaneously guaranteeing the privacy of the infrastructure and personnel involved.

Map of BSL3 and BSL4 imaging sites and existing equipment
Although there is a large number of existing sites for research under enhances biosafety conditions, it is often unclear where these sites are located and what equipment, especially for imaging, is present where. We aim to compile a database of sites for BSL3/4 imaging for the infectious diseases and imaging research community.
Atlas of existing sites and resources for pathogen-specific imaging
While imaging of different pathogens under BSL3/4 is already routinely achieved at different sites in Germany, it is often unclear where experiments are performed and what possibilities are available for pathogen-specific imaging. By collecting information on sites with knowledge and capability in imaging of specific pathogens, we hope to increase the awareness of existing expertise and facilitate enhanced usage of existing resources and infrastructures.

Protocols and methods for pathogen imaging
To streamline pathogen imaging under enhanced biosafety conditions, we will create a repository for protocols and methods developed for imaging under BSL3/4. This will also include resources for maintenance, quality control and benchmarking of systems and tools.
Guidelines and templates for administrative purposes
While regulations and regulatory procedures for BSL3/4 studies differ between sites in Germany, there are often similarities in the workflow necessary for establishment of BSL3/4 imaging as well as for resource exchange across sites. By collecting templates and guidelines for these procedures, we aim to create a framework that supports researchers navigating the regulatory procedures that are required before a BSL3/4 imaging project can start
